City of Pittsfield City Council met Jan. 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the City Council room at 215 North Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor John Hayden, City Clerk Ann Moffit, and Aldermen Bill Grimsley, Kevin Ketchum, Ed Knight, Paul Lennon, Robert Ritchart, Robert Wilson, Kevin Wombles and Robert Wood.

Mayor Hayden presided.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the minutes of the January 7, 2020 Council meeting. Alderman Wood seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Grimsley, Ketchum, Knight, Lennon, Ritchart, Wilson, Wombles, Wood (8) 

Nay: None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the Treasurer’s Monthly Report for the month of December 2019. Alderman Wilson seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Grimsley, Ketchum, Knight, Lennon, Ritchart, Wilson, Wombles, Wood (8) 

Nay: None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Wood moved to accept the recommendation of the Planning Committee to approve permanently rezoning the property: Lot 23 of Lippincott’s Subdivision being a part of the Northwest Quarter of Section 26, in Township 5 South, Range 4 West of the Fourth Principal Meridian, situated in the County of Pike and State of Illinois from Residential to B-3, Highway Business District.

Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Grimsley, Ketchum, Knight, Lennon, Ritchart, Wilson, Wombles, Wood (8) 

Nay: None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Ritchart stated that the Zoning Committee tabled the Variance request from Trung Nguyen to February 4, 2020 at 5:45 p.m.

Alderman Wombles moved to approve the Municipal Estimate of Maintenance Costs and Resolution No. 2019-2, Resolution for Maintenance of Streets and Highways by Municipality Under the Illinois Highway Code.

Alderman Wilson seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Grimsley, Ketchum, Knight, Lennon, Ritchart, Wilson, Wombles, Wood (8)

Nay: None (0) The motion carried.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve the request of Ashley Freesmeyer to change the date of the Mud Run at Lake Pittsfield from April 25, 2020 to May 30, 2020.

Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Grimsley, Ketchum, Knight, Lennon, Ritchart, Wilson, Wombles, Wood (8) 

Nay: None (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve the Finance Committee Report and the Clerk be directed to issue the claims thereon.

Alderman Knight seconded the motion.

The motion carried.

Mayor Hayden informed the council that City Clerk Ann Moffit will be on vacation until February 3, 2020 that if anyone needs anything Deputy Clerk Flesner will be able to assist them.

Attorney Hollahan sent a letter to Lisa Asprocolas and Kelly Jones in reference to the former Temptations building informing them of the findings of the Structural Engineer report. Mayor Hayden asked Mr. Hollahan what time frame they have to wait for a response. Mr. Hollahan believes that due to the safety issues we do not have to wait.

Alderman Ritchart asked for an update on Jonas Petty’s IHS project. Mayor Hayden has talked with Max Middendorf and the plumbing contractor has contacted him and have ordered the materials and pipes have been measured.

Alderman Ritchart asked if the IDOT project was on the January letting. Mayor Hayden stated that IDOT has a few right-of-way issues and they were hoping for the March letting.

Alderman Ketchum informed that the Kid’s Trout Fishing day will be the first Saturday in April. The city has provided financial assistance in the past and would like for that the be discussed soon.

Alderman Ketchum asked for an update on the Fix or Flatten property on E. Perry Street. Tom Reinhardt stated that the siding installation is almost complete.

Mayor Hayden stated that there will be re-bidding for the pool job and bid opening is February 12, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.

Alderman Knight moved to adjourn this meeting at 6:15 p.m.
