The McDonough County Police, sheriff's department and 9-11 center are limited access to the public.

Two law enforcement agencies and an emergency communications center are working to limit public access to their offices due to COVID-19, according to the McDonough County Voice.

The McDonough County Sheriff's Department, the Macomb Police Department and the McDonough/Schuyler 911 Communications Center are working to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus between the three offices in their two connected buildings, the news agency reported.

Eric Lenardt, the 911 director, told the news agency that the staff are the only people allowed to enter the building and they have worked out a way to provide paperwork to law enforcement officials without them coming into the call center.

Lenardt also urged people to call their law enforcement's non-emergency number for non-emergencies that require filing a police report, the news agency reported.

Staff are also required to wash their hands when they enter the building to help lower the risk of contracting COVID-19 from surfaces.
