The Western Illinois Track and Field team showcased a commendable performance at the Billiken Alumni Invite in St. Louis, Missouri, achieving numerous podium finishes and top-10 placements across both track and field events.
Kaytlyn Baker marked the beginning of success for the Leathernecks by claiming first place in the 400-meter hurdles with a timing of 1:20.48.
In the women's 800-meter race, Hannah Steinmeyer led her team to three top-10 finishes, securing sixth place at 2:30.47, followed closely by Aylana Cezar, who finished seventh at 2:30.81. Krissy Petrou concluded the top finishes for the group with a ninth place at 2:37.45.
Further, in the 1500-meter run, Cezar continued her streak by securing second with a time of 4:52.18, shortly followed by Lydia Bennett in third at 4:56.93. Madison Trevena and Ava Gorrie achieved sixth and eighth positions, respectively, with times of 5:01.98 and 5:07.21. Greta Sieren and Faith Procopio captured ninth and tenth place positions with times of 5:11.52 and 5:11.62, respectively.
On the men's track, Jack Knoll and Cage Davidson finished fifth and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with times of 11.53 and 11.65 seconds, respectively. In the 800-meter race, Sean Hudspath placed fourth at 1:59.28, with Eason Comer finishing seventh at 2:03.37. Robert Perry stood out in the 1500-meter run with a second-place finish timed at 4:05.70.
In field events, Cage Davidson excelled by claiming first in the long jump with a leap of 6.38 meters, while Garrison Murray placed third at 5.87 meters. In the javelin, Matthew Thomas secured fifth with a throw of 29.04 meters. For the women's team, Brooke Boehm earned second in the long jump with a mark of 4.99 meters, and Franka Weil-Restrepo achieved second in the shot put with a throw of 10.60 meters.
The Leathernecks are set to compete next at the Kansas Relays starting Thursday, April 17, at the University of Kansas.
