Hancock County Building, Grounds and Insurance Committee met June 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The Building, Grounds and Insurance Committee met in the County Board Room at 6:30pm. Members present were Tom Scheetz, Chairman, Patsy Davis, Tom Rodgers, Dennis Castelbury Stephen Finney, Gary Dittmer and Delbert Kreps, Chairman of the Board. Absent was Bryan Stevens.

In New Business Mr. Todd Courtois entered the meeting and had two things to discuss. One was he had a Petition form for people to sign in Hancock County so that if they get 500 signatures it can be put on the ballot to make Chicago and State of their own. He stated they already had over 300 signatures. Also, he passed out some papers for everyone to read on questions and answers about aa New Illinois Executive Summery, if Chicago was made a new State. After much discussion the members ask that Kerry put this on the Agenda for the Full Board Meeting so Mr. Courtois could come a speak to the full board.

Twenty-seven claims were reviewed for payment by the committee. After reviewing a motion was made by Tom Rodgers to present these claims to the full board for payment. Patsy Davis seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Scott Bentzinger, County Sheriff stated all he had to report was that he had twenty-seven inmates and three of these are women. Everything else seems to be going ok.

Tom had on the agenda to discuss an ad for the paper regarding hardship on Real Estate taxes and penalties, however, he stated this was mainly for older folks and was going to drop this.

We have a FOIA on the bridge that Mr. Gavillett wanted replaced and Kerry and Elgin stated they are not doing anything wrong and this is a Township road. We have not violated Mr. Gavilleitt rights and all the Township has to do is have a meeting and deed this over to him and he owns all the ground there and no one else uses the road.

Patsy Davis Read a Proclamation for Hancock County Illinois return to work Recommendation Guidelines. The members discussed this and Stephen Finney ask if the Health Department had seen this and Patsy stated that is says they will continue to monitor the COBID 19 as they have been doing, and she was not taking it to the States Attorney. A motion was made by Dennis Castlebury to take this recommendation to the full board for approval and Patsy Davis seconded it. Roll Call: Finney-N, Dittmer=N, Scheeetz-yes, Rodgers-Y, Davis-Y and Castlebury-Y. Motion carried with 4 yes and 2 no. Tom did state he would show it to Rachel Mast.

The members were updated on the Loans for Small Business and Tom Rodgers reported there would be a public meeting this Friday night at 6:30 in the County Board Room,

Having nothing further to discuss a motion was made by Dennis Castlebury to recess until Jul 13, 2020 at 6:30pm. Patsy Davis seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
