Hancock County Miscellaneous and County Health Committee met June 9.

MISCELLANEOUS AND COUNTY HEALTH COMMITTEE

The Miscellaneous and County Health Committee met in the County Board Room at 6:30pm. Members present were Janet Fleming, Chairwoman, Tom Rodgers, Pat Cramer Mark Hanson, Stephen Finney, Gary Dittmer, Denis Castlebury and Delbert Kreps, Chairman of the Board.

Thirty-seven claims were reviewed for payment by the members and a motion was made by Stephen Finney to present these to the full Board for payment. Pat Cramer seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

Rachel Mast, States Attorney entered the meeting and gave a report on the Life Guard, doesn't have anything as of yet but should soon. Not much update on the Dallas City Fire as for the Ambulance, they say they pay Lomax so much so it is not their problem,

Jennifer Meeks and Terry Griffin, Director of EMS entered the meeting and gave a report on what Jennifer had found out on the Bad Debts. She is going to try and contact the people be fore they go to the Collection Agency to see it that will help collect some money. The Contractual amount for May is $55,314.01 which is down from last months $72,477.57, but this is due to the runs being down.

A motion was made by Dennis Castlebury to present the Contractual Write Offs to the full board for approval in the amount of $55,314.01. Stephen Finney seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.

They have been sending the statement Certified mail and they have been return from Dallas City as unclaimed. Jenny will try to reach out to Lomax and see what they say, as the bills are now at a total $9,800.00. Bobby James, Asst. States Attorney has been talking to them but Rachel stated it wouldn't hurt for Jenny to contact them.

Jenny stated that the bid for the Chassis and box overhaul will cost $82,262. And the amount of the USDA Grand is 38,000. Would leave a balance of $43,762. The members stated that they thought best to try and get a loan for the rest and pay it off. A motion was made by Tom to approve the Chassis with the grant money and then get a loan for rest. Stephen Finney seconded the motion. Roll Call: Finney-y, Dittmer-yes, Cramer-yes, Castlebury-y, Fleming-y, Rodgers-yes. 6 voting yes, motion carried.

Jenny stated she didn't think we should pay anymore on the loan we have until after we get the first tax distribution and everyone agreed.

Janet stated that we never did fully make Terry Griffin's title Director of the EMS and we need to do this before she officially retires. Also clarify that Jenny Meeks position is temporary full time, so there isn't any misunderstanding. Everyone thanked Terry for her hard work and getting the ambulance is the good shape it is in.

Amy Hall with the Health Department state Hancock County had 18 cases of COBID-19 and 16 have fully recovered and one is in isolation and one passed away, but was stated it came from McDonough County. Also, she is still educating the people as they call in and everything is good with the auditors.

Janet stated that she talked to Jack Curfman with ESDA and he didn't have anything to report, and Tom stated he went down the office and it really looks nice.

Mike Wright, Animal Control Warden reported that he has contacted a carpenter by the name of Brandon Gideon and he his fairly new here and he gave him a bid on what needed to be done at the pound to fix it right. The old part need a new tin roof and siding and a window closed up. Then a lean too part on the front to help with the weather and Mike does still have some donation money to put towards it. A motion was made b Pat Cramer to go to the full board for Mike to go ahead and have the repairs done on the pound and get with Kris Pilkington about getting a loan to finish paying for it. Dennis Castlebury seconded the motion. All voted aye. Mike stated we have been lucky not to have a State Inspection. Mike also stated that all of the dogs are basically being shipped to lowa for adoption, which is a great deal.

Having nothing further to discuss a motion was made by Dennis Castlebury to recess until July 14, 2020 at 6:30pm. Tom Rodgers seconded the motion. All voted aye. Motion carried.
