Details of the McDonough County-Schyler County Emergency Telephone Service Board budget for the upcoming fiscal year were presented during a meeting with no action taken.

A decision was made to have the McDonough County Communications Board approve the budget before the ETSB board voted on its decision, The McDonough County Voice reported. As it stands, 911 Director Eric Lenardt has budgeted $651,250 for revenue against $473,607 for expenditures.

Among the highlights are $70,000 budgeted in miscellaneous funding. Plans are set to use that fund to make improvements to electrical issues at the call center. The center is having to depend on an uninterruptible power supply during storms, leaving it having to lean on only one circuit.

The center is also using funds for digital upgrades while it awaits to be reimbursed from a Next Generations Grant. Lenardt said Hancock County is waiting for the Illinois State Patrol to give approval to supply 911 services, so no revenue was budgeted for the county. The state patrol has failed to respond to inquiries as to what it plans to do.
