Hancock County Building, Grounds and Insurance Committee Met October 8

Hancock County Building, Grounds and Insurance Committee met Oct. 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

John Massie called the meeting to order at 5:15 PM

Present were John Massie, Mark Menn, Mike Heisler, Connie Tutwiller, and Tim Jennings

Motion by Mark seconded by John to approve the minutes of September 10, 2020. Motion carried

Motion by Mike seconded by mark to approve the financial reports. motion carried

Motion by Mike seconded by Mark to approve the bills presented with the following additions: Alan Environment $238.99, Capps, Ancelot and Wallace $480.00, and Tony Freeman $44.91. On roll call all voted yes

Mark explained that Benton and Associates agreed to our counter offer concerning the jail roof of $17,500. In order to do this they will reduce the time they are present during construction from 40 hours to 20 hours.

Sheriff Bentzinger was not available to report on the door at the jail or what he found concerning solar panels at the jail.

Tim reported he fixed the restroom door in the county board room and was still working on a solution for the wash basin repair or change.

Tim reported the gutter repair was complete'

Tim requested an improvement to the probation office by possibly putting in a half door. He was instructed to bring a proposal back next month.

the group agreed to get ED and Charles Hack to investigate a possible problem with the wall in the courtroom.

Motion by Mike seconded by Mark to authorize the treasure to pay the county for the building commission's share of insurance for the year beginning December 1, 2019 thru November 30, 2020 when an amount is determined. On roll call all voted yes

Motion by Mark seconded by John to approve the projected expenditures for the year beginning December 1,2020 and ending November 30, 2021 in the amount of $601,600. On roll call all voted yes

Motion by Mark seconded by John to establish the lease with the county for courthouse,jail, and jail annex for year beginning December 1, 2020 and ending November 30, 2021 at $431,000. motion carried

The members present agreed to request Housewright Lawn Care handle the snow removal for the courthouse at the same cost as last year.

Motion by Mark seconded by John to recess until November 12, 2020 at 5:15 PM. Motion carried
