Triopia Community Unit School District 27 Board met Sept. 22.

CALL TO ORDER
President Tracie Sayre called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Board members present were Jim Beck, Keith Fricke, Tony Isringhausen, Cindy Littleton, Jacob Meyer, and Tracie Sayre. Tabitha Stambaugh was absent. Also attending were Superintendent Adam Dean, Grade School Principal Jamie Hobrock, Brooke Tracy, Amanda Lynn, Treasurer Kiley Vinyard, Amanda Ruppel, Melanie Workman, Dana Fricke, Laura Crews, and Recording Secretary Theresa Langley.
EYE ON EDUCATION
Mr. Dean introduced our new Kindergarten teacher, Brooke Tracy to the Board of Education.
PUBLIC RECOGNITION
Amanda Ruppel addressed the BOE regarding Covid-19, masking, etc..
CONSENT ITEMS
Minutes of the Board of Education meeting held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 were presented for approval.
Final Expenditures totaling $207,648.98 for August, 2021, September, 2021 accounts payables totaling $167,783.34 were presented for approval. Gross Salaries for the month of September were presented in the amount of $199,733.85.
Financial Reports – The financial report was presented for approval.
Treasurer’s Report-The August Treasurer report was presented for approval. Treasurer’s Report-As of August 31, 2021, a cash in bank balance was reported of $2,592,390.01 Investment Balance of 1,925,000.00 and total cash in bank plus investment balance of $4,517,390.01.
Transportation Report-The transportation report was presented for approval. Activity Funds Reports- The activity funds report was presented for approval.
Meyer moved to approve the consent items, Littleton seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote, the motion passed with all members present voting yea.

OFF TO A GREAT START
The faculty and staff, along with all students have been exceptional as we started this school year. The school year brought numerous changes and challenges similar to last year, Mrs. Hobrock is beyond proud of the new approaches and ideas the staff have come up with to make sure students receive what they need.
MONTHLY READING PROGRAM
This year we continue recognizing students each month, that complete the reading program. For the month of August, students in grades PreK-6 that completed the “Trojan Readers” were able to enjoy a snack outside at the end of August.
DISTRICT WIDE ASSESSMENTS
NWEA Map Reading Assessment and i-Ready Math Diagnosis Assessments have been completed for students in Grades K-6.

COVID UPDATE
We have had 2 positive cases (as of 9-16-21) this school year for students in 7th thru 12th grade. 1 of those 2 positive cases was prior to school starting but resulted in the student missing the first 5 days of school. Of the 2 positive cases, we have had 0 quarantined students.
JR/SR HS
At the Jr/Sr HS our staff have been doing a great job pushing students to do their work and do it well. As of September 16th, we only had 21 students (11%) with 2 or more missing assignments and we only had 7 students (3.85%) that had 3 or more missing assignments. Mr. Sorrells is beyond thrilled about these numbers and gives all credit to our staff.

Financial Documents: The FRIS Inquiry was included in Board packets.
FY22 Budget Hearing: The Budget Hearing started at 6:45 PM in the District Library prior to the monthly BOE Meeting. Mr. Dean presented the FY22 Budget.
ESSER #3: Mr. Dean gave a rundown of what we plan on using our grant application funds on for ESSER #3.
Building: Mr. Dean is still awaiting completion of the 10-Year Survey by our architect. Paint is still not in for our crow’s nest project.
The SMG is due by October so Mr. Dean reported he needs to start on that soon and confer with the building committee about it.
FY21 Audit: Cindy Foote and her associates completed the audit of the FY21 school year. Cindy will be here during the October or November BOE meeting to present the audit findings.
COVID/School Year 2022: The administration gave a quick update on how things are going thus far and Mr. Dean gave an update on vaccinations and testing.
Highway Sign: Mr. Dean is researching getting a sign for the front of the building.

Beck moved and Fricke seconded motion to approve our District Budget for FY22. Upon a roll call vote, the motion passed with all members present voting yea.
Beck moved and Fricke seconded motion to go into closed session at 7:30 p.m. for the purpose of discussion of personnel in pursuant of the Open Meetings Act and review of closed session minutes. Upon a roll call vote, the motion carried with all members present voting yea.
Beck moved and Isringhausen seconded motion to come out of closed session. The motion carried with all members present voting yea.
Beck moved and Fricke seconded motion to approve Executive Minutes. The motion carried with all members present voting yea.
ACTION ITEMS (after closed session)
Beck moved and Littleton seconded motion to hire Penny Lovekamp as paraprofessional for the 2021-2022 school year. Upon a roll call vote, the motion passed with all members present voting yea.
Beck moved and Meyer seconded motion to employ Jennifer Bierman as cook for the 2021-2022 school year. Upon a roll call vote, the motion passed with all members present voting yea.
