Q2 Recap: 2 parolees from McDonough County convicted of crimes against children set for release

There were two offenders convicted of crimes against children living in McDonough County released on parole during the second quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the West Central Reporter.

The data shows both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes against children was 59. The younger parolee was a 47-year-old man sentenced in 2014, and the oldest was a 71-year-old man sentenced in 2013.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Lewis C. Turner. He was convicted in 2013 when he was 63 years old. He is now 71.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
