City of Pittsfield City Council met June 21.

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held in the Council Room at the Pittsfield City Hall at 215 N Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor Gary Mendenhall, City Clerk Ann Moffit, and Alderman Bill Grimsley, Paul Lennon, Chris Little, Robert Ritchart, Beth White, and Kevin Wombles. Alderman Kevin Ketchum and Robert Wilson were absent.
Mayor Mendenhall presided.
Alderman Wombles moved to approve June 07, 2022 city council minutes.

Mayor’s Announcements:
A meeting was held with In City Farms to obtain an update on the status of their project at the Industrial Park.
Mayor met with parties that are interested in the Zoe Theater and submitted the Engineer Inspection Report.
Mayor met with a local developer concerning housing that will be demolished and rebuilt. The Pikeland Summer School students visited City Hall, the Police Department, and the Fire Department on June 14.
Mayor, Ed Knight, Ann Moffit, Shane Allen, Max Middendorf, and Brenda Middendorf met concerning a Federal Gas Safety grant that we will work with Pike County Economic Development to apply for. There has been ongoing work on the Code and Ordinance Policy enforcement.
A contract has been signed with Hansen Engineering for Engineering services at the Pittsfield Penstone Airport.
Tree and brush removal at the airport has begun.
Mayor attended the Chamber of Commerce’s fundraising cookout at Hopewell Winery. The copies of the Industrial Park Plaza Restrictive Covenants are difficult to read due to being copied many times. City Clerk has retyped the Covenants and Mayor has reviewed the same for accuracy. Mayor met with a resident in reference to water run off from a field that has caused road problems.
Mayor met with a resident that would like to purchase a memorial bench. After discussion the resident decided that they would like the bench placed on the Courthouse Lawn, therefore they were directed to the Pike County Buildings and Grounds committee.
Road work and repair for 325th Avenue has been pushed back to mid July by Calendar Construction. Mayor has met with a business that is interested in building at the Industrial Park. The grand opening of the Dog Park will be Saturday, June 25, at 9 am.
Mayor Mendenhall attended the Western Illinois Tractor Club fundraising event that raises money for the Honor Flight Program.
Mayor appointed Alderman Beth White to the Library Board temporarily in Paul Lennon’s absence.

New Business:
Mayor stated that a dumpster would be in the alley behind PCRE for a few days.
Alderman Ritchart asked the status of the Street Sign repairs. Mayor stated that the crews are working on compiling a list of signs to be repaired.
Alderman Ritchart asked about the removal of dead Ash trees from City right-of-way. Mayor stated that this job will need to be contracted. A contractor has been contacted.
Alderman Grimsley stated that the lake looks very good. He also asked the status of the former Feed Mill. The owner has told Mayor that he has had contractor issues.
Alderman Lennon asked for a Maysville Bridge Update. Max Middendorf expects work to begin this summer.
Alderman Lennon reported that the Library trust officer has changed and he has their budget and financials available for review. The Library plans to change from Frontier to Cass with an anticipated cost savings.
Alderman Lennon plans to leave on July 18 to begin his journey across the Appalachian Trail, he expects to be completed in December.
Alderman Wombles advised that the underbrush clearing at the airport is going very well.
Tom Reinhardt stated the baby pool drain should be able to be repaired by sleeving the drain. He also advised that due to rising fuel cost the unused areas of the lake will not be mowed.
Alderman Little asked if the City owned a Kayak ramp, we do not.
