There were six offenders living in Pike County released on parole during the first quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by West Central Reporter.

The data shows five men and one woman were released in Pike County. The median age of the parolees was 31. The youngest parolee was a 27-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2020, and the oldest was a 57-year-old woman sentenced for a crime involving alcohol in 2022.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Walter Michel. He was convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2020 when he was 24 years old. He is now 27.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
