City of Hamilton City Council met Sept. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. ROLL CALL

The Hamilton City Council met in regular session 7:00pm at the Hamilton City Hall or remotely by Zoom. Attending in person were Mayor Bocephus Casey, Aldermen, Justin Hobby, Brandon Wilson, Beverly Boone, Steve Schlatter, and Debbie Summers, City Clerk Michelle Dorethy, Public Works Department Josh Turner, Police Department Mike Boley, Attorney Tom Hartzell. Tommy Buckert was absent.

2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Mayor Casey led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

3. MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 5, 2023

Summers made a motion to approve the minutes of the September 5th meeting. Schlatter seconded the motion. Roll was called with Hobby, Wilson, Boone, Schlatter, and Summers voting aye.

Motion carried.

4. MAYOR’S COMMENTS

Mayor Casey reported Trick or Treat is set for the city on October 31st from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A Trunk or Treat along with events for the kids will be held in the City Park on October 29th. More information to come.

5. WELCOME VISITORS

Mayor Casey asked if there were any visitors present in person or by Zoom that would like to address the Council. There being none he preceded with the meeting.

6. FINANCE & APPROPRIATIONS

a. Treasurer’s Report

Summers made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Schlatter seconded the motion. Roll was called with Wilson, Boone, Schlatter, Summers and Hobby voting aye.

Motion carried.

Wilson reported the Health and Safety Committee will hold a meeting on Wednesday, September 27th at 6:00 p.m.

7. HEALTH & SAFETY

8. BUILDING & GROUNDS, PERMITS & ZONING:

Boone reported the Building and Grounds committee will hold a meeting on Thursday, September 21st at 5:00pm.

a. Committee Report

Boone gave a reported of the Building and Grounds committee meeting that was held on September 13th.

b. Building/Demolition Permits

Boone made a motion to approve the following building and demolition permits waiving the permit fee for the Hamilton Library:

38 modules for roof mounted Solar Panels to Teresa Biddenstadt at 951 Main

32 modules for roof mounted Solar Panels to Mary Jordan at 213 Pleasantview

27’L x 21’W x 8’H shelter top to Hamilton Public Library at 861 Broadway

44 modules for roof mounted Solar Panels to Jose Rodriguez at 108 Crestview

6’L x 8’W x 7’H covered roof to Bob Alexander at 280 S 7th

Demolition of 18’L x 8’W front porch to Chris Mortimer at 1480 Oak

Summers seconded the motion. Roll was called with Boone, Schlatter, Summers, Hobby and Wilson voting aye.

c. Advertise Police Building Remodel

Summers made a motion to authorize the Mayor and Building and Grounds Committee to proceed with the police department remodel specifications and send out advertisement for bids. Boone seconded the motion. Roll was called with Schlatter, Summers, Hobby, Wilson and Boone voting aye.

Motion carried.

9. PUBLIC WORKS

a. Committee Report

Schlatter gave a reported of the Public Works committee meeting that was held on September 13th.

b. Pay Estimate 2023 MFT – W. L. Miller MFT Funds

Schlatter made a motion to approve the 2023 Pay Estimate #1 for the amount of $100,815.71 out of Motor Fuel Tax Funds. Boone seconded the motion. Roll was called with Summers, Hobby, Wilson, Boone and Schlatter voting aye.

c. Purchase Replacement Data Radio

Schlatter made a motion to approve purchasing a replacement data radio system for water plant, water tower and river lift station from R.E. Pedrotti for a cost of $14,136.00. Boone seconded the motion. Roll was called with Summers, Hobby, Wilson, Boone and Schlatter voting aye.

d. Recognize Josh Turner 10 Years of Service

Schlatter reported that Josh Turner has now worked for the City of Hamilton for 10 years. Congratulations and Thank you Josh. Mayor Casey reported that the Finance Committee is working on an Employee Appreciation Event to be held on March 8, 2024.

e. Approval to Hire Justin Miller Full Time - Public Works Department

Schlatter made a motion to approve hiring Justin Miller as a full time employee in the Public Works Department. This will be effective October 1st. Wilson seconded the motion. Roll was called with Hobby, Wilson, Boone, Schlatter, and Summers voting aye.

10. ECONOMIC & TOURISM

Wilson reported that the Economic & Tourism Committee will hold a meeting on Wednesday, September 27th at 5:00 pm.

11. ADJOURNMENT

Summers made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:33pm. Schlatter seconded the motion. Roll was called with Hobby, Wilson, Boone, Schlatter, and Summers voting aye.
