Pike County ranks 60th in total sales taxes paid in Illinois during October 2023

Pike County taxpayers ranked 60th in total sales taxes paid per county in October 2023, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Pike County residents paid $244,476 in sales taxes during October 2023.

Pike County ranked 59th in the Prairie State the month before, with $228,156 spent in sales taxes.

The County School Facility Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Pike County residents in October 2023.

Illinois is currently the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes are 39.83% higher than the national average.

Illinois governor J. B. Pritzker is accused of adding more than $5.2 billion in new or higher taxes since coming into power in early 2019. As a business owner, he has a fortune of more than $3 billion, largely based on his family's wealth and connections.
