City of Pittsfield City Council met April 16.

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held in the Council Room at the Pittsfield City all at 215 N Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor Gary Mendenhall, City Clerk Ann Moffit, and Alderman Kevin Ketchum, Bill Grimsley, Paul Lennon, Chris Little, Beth White, and Robert Wilson. Robert Ritchart and Kevin Wombles were absent.
Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the April 02, 2024, city council minutes.
Alderman White seconded the motion.

Mayor’s Announcements:
Mayor Mendenhall went over the Make My Move agreement again and stated the benefit and financial gain to a community based on a household with a family income of $100,000. We have had several applications and we have made an offer to a prospective mover.
Mayor Mendenhall stated that the Passport to Pittsfield was progressing and we would like to have email addresses and dates of events that business will have in the upcoming year.
Mayor Mendenhall presented a City of Pittsfield Proclamation at the CASA Child Abuse Prevention event, proclaiming April as Child Abuse awareness month.
The Kid’s Trout fishing event at King Park Lagoon was a hit.
Mayor Mendenhall has worked with Legends Holdings LLC in regards to the TIF application process. Ongoing meetings have occurred in reference to Tax Levy and Budget.
Mayor Mendenhall read a thank you note, from a resident, that was received giving a “big shout out” to Eric, Shane and Cody in the Gas Department.
Alderwoman White moved to approve the March 2024 Monthly Treasurer’s Report. Alderman Grimsley seconded the motion.

Alderman Ketchum advised that the Ordinance Committee met and reviewed and approved the brush yard ordinance, liquor ordinance, Trux Amended TIF redevelopment Agreement.

Mayor Mendenhall advised that the Street and Alley Committee met and learned from Street and Alley Superintendent Todd Scranton that Alley repair will being soon. A new flashing stop sign has been placed at the north intersection of Jefferson and Memorial.
Alderwoman White advised that the Finance Committee met today and took action on the copier lease agreement, approved City Clerk Moffit to move forward with integrated utility billing and accounting software with Frey Software, approved the 2024 Wage Report, and approved funding requests from various organizations for the new budget year, and discussed budget matters and Tax Levy. Alderwoman White called a Finance Committee meeting for May 2, 2024 at 3:30 pm.

Mayor Mendenhall advised that Chief White secured a final quote as requested by council. The cost of the truck is $668,793.68.

New Business:
Mayor Mendenhall reminded everyone to renew your neighborhood vehicle stickers for golf carts as well as side by sides.
Alderman Lennon would like to see the Kayak Launch increase to accommodate larger Kayaks.
Alderman Ketchum stated that the Park Board met and the Ty Rylander foundation will be making a donation for use on 0-4 age playground equipment at Lowry Park.
City Clerk Moffit noted that she had been asked about the cost of a new Code Book. The cost is $100. Alderman Grimsley and Alderman Ketchum requested a book.
Public Works Director Tom Reinhardt stated he would be meeting with Prairie Power Inc in reference to the Road Use Agreement. Brush pick up has resumed and will be the first Mondays of the month. Ron Springer has been hired as Park Ranger. Chips have been placed on Cherry Street and 365th Street .
