The Western Illinois Men's Golf team concluded their participation in the Zach Johnson Invitational with a 12th-place finish, recording a total score of 887 (+35). The team showed significant improvement from their last tournament, cutting down their score by 18 strokes.
Luke Lofgren led the Leathernecks, finishing within the top 20. In the first round, Lofgren made two birdies on the front nine and one on the back nine, ending with a score of 69 (-2). He maintained his performance in the second round with an even-par score of 71, tying for fourth place heading into day two. However, in the third round, he shot a 76 (+5), placing him tied for 16th overall with a tournament score of 216 (+3).
Owen Howe finished tied for 45th with a total score of 223 (+10). Howe's rounds included scores of 72 (+1), 75 (+4), and 76 (+5). Bayden Hubacher placed tied for 54th with a score of 224 (+11), featuring five birdies in his first round and ending that round at even par (71). His subsequent rounds were marked by scores of 78 (+7) and 75 (+4).
Nathan Tillman completed the tournament tied for 69th at +15, while Teagen Hull finished tied for 72nd at +16.
The WIU Men's Golf team will have a break next week before traveling to Homer, Nebraska to participate in the Throw Down Up Top Tournament hosted by South Dakota from October 7 through October 9.
