Western Illinois women's tennis ends fall season with win over Quincy

The Western Illinois University women's tennis team concluded their fall season with a decisive 7-0 victory over Quincy on Sunday. The Leathernecks, who have had a strong fall performance, will now take a break before resuming their schedule on January 25 at IU Indy.

During the match against Quincy, the Leathernecks dominated in both doubles and singles play. In doubles, the teams of Paige Grice and Mana Fawcett (6-0), Richardlyne Francois and Nadezhda Petkova (6-4), and Chloe Routier and Nour Gueblaoui (6-4) all secured wins. Grice and Fawcett were particularly efficient in their No. 3 doubles match, while Francois-Petkova and Routier-Gueblaoui faced more competitive matches but still emerged victorious.

In singles competition, Nadezhda Petkova and Nour Gueblaoui led the way with commanding 6-0, 6-0 victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively. At No. 1 singles, Paige Grice continued her success with a straight-set win of 6-0, 6-1. Gabriela Miteva also won quickly at No. 3 singles with scores of 6-2, 6-2.

Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza returned to action in the singles after sitting out doubles play. She overcame a slow start to secure a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles with scores of 7-5, 6-2.

Chloe Routier played the most extended match of the day at No. 2 doubles. After winning the first set 6-2 but losing the second set 4-6, she claimed victory in the third-set tiebreaker with a score of 10-4.
