Western Illinois men's golf prepares for Ohio Valley Conference Tournament

The Western Illinois University Men's Golf team is set to compete in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament from April 21 to April 24 in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The tournament will be held at the RTJ Golf Trail, a par 72 course ranging from 7,147 to 7,260 yards.

In their previous outing at the Stampede at the Creek, the WIU team secured third place. Mateo Rascon delivered an impressive performance by finishing second overall. His standout round was the third, where he shot a remarkable 66 (-4), featuring six birdies, one eagle, and seven pars. Luke Lofgren also had a strong showing, placing inside the top 20 with a final round score of 73 (+1).

Nathan Tillman contributed eight birdies throughout the tournament, with four occurring in the third round. David Ayala and Bayden Hubacher each achieved six birdies during their rounds. Baptiste Labeyrie recorded six birdies and an eagle in his third round.

The competition will include teams from Chicago State, Eastern Illinois, Lindenwood, Little Rock, Morehead State, SIUE, Southern Indiana, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, and UT Martin.

The tournament schedule begins with round one on Sunday at 8 a.m., followed by subsequent rounds on Monday and Tuesday at the same time. The top four teams after these rounds will advance to Match Play on Wednesday.

Western Illinois' starting lineup for this event includes Mateo Rascon as number one seed followed by Luke Lofgren, Nathan Tillman, Baptiste Labeyrie and David Ayala.
