The Western Illinois men's golf team concluded their season by participating in the Ohio Valley Conference Championship, where they secured an 8th place finish. The team's performance improved during the final round, allowing them to ascend the leaderboard.
Freshman Mateo Rascon led Western Illinois throughout the event, tying for 17th place. He began with a score of 78 and improved with consecutive rounds of 73 on the second and third days. Rascon's play included 15 pars and one birdie in the second round, followed by three birdies in the final round.
Senior David Ayala finished within the top 30 in his first OVC tournament, marking his last competition as a Leatherneck. Ayala started with an opening round of 81 but made progress with scores of 74 and 75 in subsequent rounds. Across all three rounds, he achieved three birdies.
