Western Illinois University's men's golf team concluded their fall season by participating in the MartinFed Invite at Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club. The tournament took place on October 16 and 17, where the Leathernecks secured the 10th position out of 11 teams.
Mateo Rascon led the team with a T27 finish, scoring 219 (+3). Rascon's performance included four birdies in both rounds one and two, culminating in his best round three score of 71 (-1), with four birdies and three bogeys. He accumulated a total of 12 birdies throughout the tournament.
Nathan Tillman finished T33 with a score of 221 (+5). His notable performance included an eagle on hole five during round one, along with four birdies leading to a score of 73. Despite starting round two with three consecutive bogeys, Tillman recovered by achieving back-to-back birdies on holes seven and eight. He ended round two with a score of 73 (+1) after shooting 35 (-1) on the back nine. In round three, Tillman scored two birdies on the front nine but encountered three straight bogeys on the back nine, finishing with a score of 75 (+3).
The Leathernecks will resume their activities in February 2024 at the ASU Spring Classic in Montgomery, Alabama.
