WIU hosts intercollegiate golf tournament at TPC Deere Run

Western Illinois University is set to host the WIU Intercollegiate golf tournament on April 5-6 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. The course is a par 71 and spans 6,804 yards. Rounds one and two are scheduled for April 5, with round three taking place on April 6.

The WIU Men's Golf team recently participated in the Big Texan tournament on March 25-26, where they finished in 14th place. Baptiste Labeyrie led the team with a tie for 45th place, shooting a total of 225 (+9). His performance included multiple birdies across the rounds, finishing strong with a back nine score of 33 (-3) in round three.

Nathan Tillman tied for 65th place with a score of 230 (+14). He showed resilience throughout the rounds, notably achieving an eagle on hole 12 during round three. Other team members such as David Ayala and Luke Lofgren contributed with birdies, while Lofgren also secured an eagle on hole four in round one.

Baptiste Labeyrie's performance earned him the OVC Player of the Week honor, marking both his and the team's first accolade since joining the league.

The competition at the WIU Intercollegiate will include teams from UNI, UNO, Green Bay, IHCC, St. Ambrose, Chicago State, and North Dakota.

The starting lineup for WIU includes Baptiste Labeyrie at number one followed by Nathan Tillman, Luke Lofgren, Mateo Rascon, and David Ayala. Bayden Hubacher will compete as an individual along with John Lishchynski and Bennett Baker.
