Western Illinois University has appointed Luke Ogren as the new head coach for its women's tennis team, as announced by Athletic Director Paul A. Bubb. Ogren joins from Lake Superior State, where he led both the men's and women's tennis teams for eight seasons.

At Lake Superior State, Ogren's coaching tenure included mentoring several athletes who achieved All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors. Notably, he coached two first-team members last year and guided the women's program's Freshman of the Year.

Ogren expressed optimism about his new role at Western Illinois University (WIU), stating, "I see a lot of potential for a great women's tennis program at WIU. I'm excited to work with the current student-athletes and develop a highly competitive program in the OVC."

Before his time at Lake Superior State, Ogren was a club professional at Querbes Tennis Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He hails from Escanaba, Michigan, and holds an associate's degree in business from Bay College and a bachelor's degree in business management from Lake Superior State University. Additionally, he is a PTR certified tennis professional with training as a cardio tennis instructor.

Reflecting on Ogren's appointment, Paul A. Bubb remarked, "I feel fortunate to have Luke joining our Leatherneck family. He is an experienced coach that I believe will have an impact for us as we move into the Ohio Valley Conference."
