The Western Illinois women's tennis team is set to begin its fall season at the Southeast Missouri State Redhawk Invitational. The event will take place on Friday and Saturday, marking the start of a brief fall schedule for the Leathernecks.

On Friday, Western Illinois will face Tennessee Southern at 4 p.m. The team will also compete in doubles against SEMO on the same day. On Saturday, they are scheduled to play singles against the Redhawks at 1 p.m., followed by a match against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville at 9 a.m.

This invitational serves as a warm-up for Western Illinois before they head to Quincy on October 14. It also marks the debut of Luke Ogren as head coach, who took over the program in July.

The Leathernecks bring back six players from last year's team that secured four victories during the spring season. Returning players include Paige Grice, Agatha Carbonell, Lorena Castellanos, Aina Cortina-Pou, Maria Rybka, and Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza. New additions to the squad are Anna-Evelina Trush, Kate Lauger, and Aubrey Brumbaugh. The team is preparing for official competition in the Ohio Valley Conference starting in spring.
