The Western Illinois women's tennis team is set to make its debut in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) this week. The Leathernecks, currently holding a 2-9 record, will host Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) on Tuesday at the Brophy Tennis Courts at 11 a.m. Later in the week, they will travel to Nashville to face Tennessee State University on Friday at 1 p.m.

Last week, Western Illinois faced two nonconference defeats against St. Louis and Kansas City. Despite these losses, the No. 1 doubles team of Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza and Paige Grice managed to secure a win for WIU.

SEMO enters the match with a 5-6 overall record and has recently achieved consecutive victories over Arkansas State and Bradley. SEMO was named the OVC preseason favorite and holds a perfect 3-0 record against Western Illinois historically.

Tennessee State, with a current season record of 1-12, recently claimed their first victory by defeating Bethune-Cookman with a score of 4-3. This upcoming match marks the first encounter between Western Illinois and Tennessee State in their programs' histories.
