Several personal records and top-10 program performances marked the Western Illinois track and field team's showing at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City. This event was the Leathernecks' first competition in over a month.
Lucas Burmeister achieved a notable feat by clocking 21.93 seconds in the 200 meters, nearly breaking the program record set by Desmond Bynum in 2002. His performance secured him a fifth-place finish.
In another highlight, Jaiden Young recorded a time of 49.36 seconds in the 400 meters, placing him ninth on the Leatherneck all-time list.
Isaac Jones finished seventh overall in the men's 600 meters with a time of 1:22.56. Logan Lommel came close to his personal best in the 800 meters, also finishing seventh with a time of 1:53.64.
Sean Hudspath set a personal record in the mile, finishing seventh with a time of 4:18.35.
For the women's team, Aliyah Adams entered the program's top-10 list by running 7.71 seconds in the preliminaries of the Women's Premier 60 meters and finishing eighth overall with a time of 7.79 seconds in the final. She also placed fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 25.51 seconds.
Hannah Steinmeyer delivered a strong performance in the women's 600 meters, finishing second with a time of 1:40.43.
The women's relay team comprising Maleigha Huston, Nakeita Kessling, Crews, and Adams finished seventh in the women's 4x400 relay with a time of 4:01.51.
Western Illinois is scheduled for two meets next week: they will participate at Central's Dutch Winter Multi on Thursday and Friday and at Iowa's Black and Gold Invite on Saturday.
