Bushnell-Prairie City Community Unit School District 170 Board of Education met Sept. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education met in a Regular Meeting on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC with the following members present: McCleery, Miller, Spangler, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Beekman Absent: None

Public Comments: None

The Board reviewed the Consent Agenda.

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member Spangler to approve the Consent Agenda which contained the following: Minutes of the August 21, 2024 Regular and Executive Session Meetings, Payment of Bills, Treasurer's Report and Investments, Student Activity Accounts, Manual and Void Checks and Imprest Ledgers. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Spangler, Thompson, McGrew and Beekman. Nay: None Abstain: Webb

Superintendent Gound reviewed Safety Night, Parent Square app., RISE Grant, Guest Speaker at JH/HS Harvey Harrington. Our Pre-School received a Silver Circle of Quality evaluation, Military Wall and Homecoming.

The Board reviewed the 2024-25 Budget.

Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Thompson to approve the 2024-25 Budget. After a roll call vote the motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Spangler, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Beekman. Nay: None

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member to declare obsolete weight room and athletic items. After a roll call vote the motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller,

Spangler, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Beekman. Nay: None

First reading of Board Policy updates contained in Issue 116.

Allen Thompson and Holly Spangler were appointed to the Finance Committee.

IASA Western Division Meeting will be on Monday, October 21st at 6:00 pm.

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member Webb to adjourn to Executive Session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, probable litigation against the District and student discipline.

After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

Motion by Member Miller, seconded by Member Spangler to adjourn Executive Session and return to Open Session. After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The Board reviewed the Personnel Report.

Motion by Member Beekman, seconded by Member McGrew to approve the Personnel Report as follows: Resignations: Minnie Keime as Elementary Cook effective September 6, 2024. Makenna Barker as Head High School Volleyball Coach effective immediately, Judy Bowman as Assistant High School Volleyball Coach effective immediately, Peyton Bowman as volunteer High School Volleyball Coach effective immediately. Change of Placement: Andrew Strange from Junior High Para Pro to High School Cook effective September 16, 2024. New employment: Rachel Mott as Junior High School Para Pro effective September 12, 2024. Jocelyn Folkers as High School Assistant Girls Basketball for the 2024-25 Season. Contract renewal for Lisa Webb. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Spangler, Thompson, McGrew and Beekman. Nay: None Abstain: Webb

Motion by Member Spangler seconded by Member Webb to adjourn the Meeting. After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC.
