Western Illinois University's women's soccer team faced Tennessee Tech in their final home game of the season on Sunday afternoon. The match concluded with a 3-1 victory for the Golden Eagles, marking a challenging Senior Day for the Leathernecks.

In the first half, Tennessee Tech established control early, earning six corner kicks. It was not until their sixth attempt that they succeeded in scoring, taking a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute. The initial shot bounced off the woodwork before being headed into the net by another Tech player. This scoreline remained unchanged at halftime.

The second half saw Western Illinois create more opportunities with corners in both the 53rd and 57th minutes but failed to convert these chances into goals.

Tennessee Tech extended their lead with another goal from a corner kick in the 65th minute. Although they nearly scored again shortly after, a save from WIU's Bernard prevented further damage at that moment. A later play by a Tech midfielder resulted in their third goal, increasing their advantage to three-nil.

Western Illinois managed to score in the 86th minute through Rachel Balinao, who capitalized on assists from Karaline Gray and Alanna Pennington during a set piece.

Post-match ceremonies honored WIU seniors Rachel Balinao, Alexis Betker, Elise Bush, Karaline Gray, Isabel Navas Rodriguez, and Sydnee Sagal for their contributions to the team.

Western Illinois will conclude its season next Sunday against Southern Indiana.
