Western Illinois University's pitcher, Jason Buhl, has been recognized as the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Pitcher of the Week. The announcement was made on Monday afternoon. This marks a first for both Western Illinois and Buhl since they joined the OVC.
Buhl's performance on Saturday was notable as he pitched a complete game, a feat not achieved by any Western Illinois pitcher since 2022. The junior played nine full innings, allowing only one run and striking out five batters. His efforts contributed to the team achieving several milestones over the weekend, including allowing the fewest runs in a three-game series since 2014.
The Leathernecks have a demanding schedule ahead with five games lined up this week. They will play at home against Bradley on Tuesday before traveling to face Illinois State on Wednesday. The team will then return home for a weekend series against Little Rock.
