A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the City Of Mount Sterling regarding unpaid parking violations on October 28, 2024. The request was made by us at West Central Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
In our request, we sought access to a list of all parking violations currently unpaid within the city's jurisdiction. We asked for specific details including the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date of violation, and total amount due.
As a news organization, we are committed to gathering and reporting news that is in the public interest. Access to public records such as these is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to our readership.
We believe that this information will help us shed light on how effectively the city is managing its parking regulations and whether there are any systemic issues that need addressing.
