Leatherneck Athletics will welcome back football teams from the 1970s during a game at Hanson Field on November 9, where they will face Tennessee State. The event highlights the achievements of the 1974 team that defeated Hawaii.

On November 2, 1974, Western Illinois University (WIU) played against the Rainbow Warriors in Honolulu and won with a score of 31-0. This victory was under the leadership of then-Head Coach Brodie Westen, who was inducted into the WIU Athletics Hall of Fame in 1992.

During the upcoming game, members from teams of the 1970s, including those from the victorious 1974 team, will be recognized on-field. Football alumni are encouraged to register for attendance.
