FOIA Request to City of Pittsfield Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at West Central Reporter have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request was sent electronically to the City of Pittsfield on October 30, 2024.
Our request includes a list of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, till the present date. We are seeking specific details including the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address and contractor's name.
Additionally, we have requested information regarding all active residential and commercial building permits and their current status. Again, we are interested in obtaining details such as the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address and contractor's name.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and public accountability, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that as a media organization involved in disseminating information to the public we are eligible for a fee waiver under the provisions of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. We await a response from the City of Pittsfield regarding our request.
