The Western Illinois Women's Basketball team has announced the signing of Sidney Skrobot for their 2025 class on National Signing Day. Skrobot, a 6'1" wing/small forward, hails from Sudbury, Ontario. During her junior year at LoEllen Park Secondary School, she averaged 8.8 points per game. She participated in the 2024 Nike Next Ones Up Girls All-Canadian Games and played club basketball with the Kia Nurse Elite EYBL team for two seasons.

At LoEllen Park, Skrobot excelled both academically and athletically. She made the Honor Roll every year of high school and received an Honorable Mention Award in 2024 at the Emergence Gallery of Sudbury Art Show. In addition to basketball, she competes in volleyball, track and field, and cross country.

In 2022, she was named the MVP for novice girls volleyball at LoEllen Park and won gold medals in the SDSSAA 80m hurdles and high jump.

Skrobot explained her decision to join WIU by saying: "...a few of my non-negotiables when looking for a school was a program that values not only basketball but academics and team culture. As a Canadian player moving away from home, a team that has a family feel was important. It was also very apparent to me on my visit, that WIU women's basketball coaching staff works hard to build a well-rounded basketball program, which in the end made WIU the perfect fit!" Sidney is expected to graduate in June of 2025.
