McDonough County Building & Grounds/Elms Committee met Oct. 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Elms/Building and Grounds Committee met on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, 3rd floor, Law Library. Committee Members in attendance included, Chair Larry Aurelio, Vice Chair Terra Litchfield, Dustin Berg, Dave Cortelyou, Mike Cox, Vicky Kipling, Clayton Murphy, and Dana Walker. Others in attendance included Terry Thompson, Chad Wilson, Elms Administrator Jeff Howd, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and County Board Secretary Sara Kluthe.

Chair Larry Aurelio called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Review and Approval of September 10, 2024 Minutes

Member Walker moved with a second by Member Cortelyou to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Farm Report

County Chair Schwerer informed the Committee that it was time to run an ad for bids for the farm. A discussion was held regarding whether or not they should request bids for a cash rent lease, or a flex lease. This will be discussed further before an ad is placed.

Becky Thompson – Nania Energy

Becky Thompson was not present. Howd informed the Committee that he has met with her several times regarding solar panels. He has done diligent work running numbers to see when or if it would be beneficial to take this step, Howd shared this information and a discussion was held.

Administrator’s Report

Census is at 69, with 12 being private-pay. Medicare currently owes $196,160.56. There were 13 admissions, and 12 discharges. Howd informed the Committee that he has hired several new employees. They have five individuals that have covid, three are residents and two are employees.

Financial Report

Member Kipling moved with a second by Member Litchfield to approve the September, 2024 Financial Reports. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Elms Claims

Member Litchfield moved with a second by Member Cortelyou to approve the Elm’s claims as submitted. Motion carried with a roll call vote of 8 yeas, 0 nays, 0 vacant and 0 absent.

Macomb Public Building Commission

Chad Wilson informed the Committee that the fire alarms at the Zahren building were upgraded today.

McDonough County Maintenance Directors Report

Chad Wilson gave the report. He gave an update on the work at the Courthouse, the West steps are to be poured this week, the North ones should be next week. The deck behind the bell tower is done and Chad was able to get the windows put in. Member Cox offered to donate new lights for the clock if Chad could install them.

Building and Grounds Claims

Member Cox moved with a second by Member Walker to approve the September, 2024 Building and Grounds Claims. Motion carried on a voice vote.

County Board Chair Comments

County Chair Schwerer received a phone call from Macomb’s Mayor regarding a truck that was sticking out too far on the square, Wilson said that he will talk to them about it.

Adjourn

Member Cortelyou moved with a second by Member Kipling to adjourn the meeting at 7:44 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
