McDonough County Board Finance/Insurance Committee met Oct. 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The monthly Finance Committee meeting was held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, 3rd Floor, Law Library. Committee members present were Vice Chair Larry Aurelio, Letha Clark, Dave Cortelyou, Mike Cox, Ken Durkin, and Joe Erlandson. Chair Travis Hiel, and member Dave Nissen were absent. Others in attendance included Keith Krohe, Randy Pickering, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and Deputy Clerk Emily Flynn.

Vice Chair Aurelio called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Review and Approve Minutes from September 11, 2024

Member Erlandson moved with a second by Member Clark to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

MCPT Report

The monthly MCPT Report was received and filed.

Bushnell Senior Meals Report Review & Approval

No report received.

Coroner Report

The monthly Coroner Report was received and filed.

Monthly Financial Reports

The monthly Financial Reports were received and filed.

Transfer of Funds

None.

Warrants Issued in Vacation

Member Clark moved with a second by Member Erlandson to approve the Warrants Issued in Vacation. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Insurance Update

Keith Krohe and Randy Pickering provided an insurance update and a discussion was held regarding various plans. They also discussed the contracts and agreements that are up for renewal. Krohe recommends going with the $95,000.00 Symetra plan, and the 5% and 15% increase. This will be sent to the full Board Meeting this month.

Member Erlandson made a motion to go with plan b, the 5% and 15% increase moved with a second by Member Cortelyou. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Member Clark made a motion to approve the three-year contract with Pickering Insurance Services Inc, and with Crossroads Consulting and Brokerage Inc for $12,500.00 moved with a second by Member Durkin. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Member Erlandson made a motion to approve the TPA Agreement Extension moved with a second by Member Durkin. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Approve Resolution to Amend FY 2024 McDonough County Liability Insurance Fund Budget Member Erlandson moved with a second by Member Clark to approve the Resolution to Amend FY 2024 McDonough County Liability Insurance Fund Budget. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Join the City in Investing in a Sports Complex Study

A discussion was held regarding a potential sports complex in Macomb. The City of Macomb is looking in to have a study done to see if it’s feasible to have one.

Member Clark made a motion to contribute $2,500.00 towards the sports complex study carried with a second by Member Cortelyou. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Approval of Claims

Member Cortelyou moved with a second by Member Erlandson to approve the Claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Executive Session

None.

Other

The Committee recommends that Court Services moves forward with MTC Communications for their internet.

Public Comment

Dr. Karen Blakeley and County Board Member Letha Clark are working on a grant for approximately $25,000.00 for vet fees for the Animal Shelter.

Member Clark moved with a second by Member Cortelyou to adjourn the meeting at 7:58 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
