WIU women's basketball team secured a 93-75 victory over Chicago State, demonstrating their proficiency in three-point shooting. The Leathernecks converted 18 of their 31 attempts from beyond the arc, achieving a 58.1% success rate.
Guard Allie Meadows led the charge with a flawless performance, scoring 23 points and hitting all seven of her three-point attempts. Meadows also contributed five assists and five rebounds, playing a key role in WIU's dominant display.
Mallory McDermott supported Meadows' efforts by making six triples on 12 attempts, contributing 20 points to the team's total. Together, Meadows and McDermott were responsible for 13 of WIU's 18 successful three-pointers.
Mia Nicastro added to the team's success with 16 points and eight rebounds, providing balance to WIU's offense.
Defensively, WIU forced Chicago State into committing 19 turnovers, converting these into 20 points. The Leathernecks established an early lead through effective three-point shooting and maintained control throughout the game. By halftime, they led comfortably at 55-27.
The team's performance was marked by effective ball movement, as they recorded 25 assists on their 33 field goals made. This victory improved WIU's record to 4-1. They will next face Bradley in Peoria, Illinois, with the game scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m.
