As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at West Central Reporter have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City of Colchester. The request was sent on December 13, 2024.

The information sought includes a list of all new residential and commercial building permits issued within the specified period. The fields requested for each permit include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor's name.

We believe that access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. In related news concerning regulations in Illinois, pet owners must have a license for certain pets like dogs and comply with state and local regulations. These licenses are defined in the Illinois Animal Welfare Act and must comply with the Animal Welfare Act and Animal Welfare Rules. The pet license typically involves a fee and must be renewed periodically. Licensing supports animal control and health programs and helps ensure that pets have the correct vaccinations, especially against deadly and highly contagious diseases like rabies.

Please stay tuned for updates as we continue our pursuit of transparency in local government affairs.
