The Western Illinois University (WIU) Leatherneck Women's Basketball team secured a decisive victory against Tennessee State with a score of 88-67, ending their two-game losing streak. The game took place at Western Hall in Macomb, Illinois.

Mallory McDermott led WIU with an impressive 24 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including six three-pointers. Her performance tied her for the second most three-pointers in a single game in WIU women's basketball history. Mia Nicastro added to the effort with 20 points and six rebounds, bolstering the team's interior presence.

Raegan McCowan also played a key role by scoring 14 points and grabbing five rebounds, contributing significantly to WIU's success. Addi Brownfield provided eight assists and scored 13 points, highlighting the team's effective ball movement.

The Leathernecks shot 51.9% from the field and made nine out of sixteen three-point attempts, demonstrating accuracy that helped maintain their lead. Their performance at the free-throw line was strong as well, converting twenty-five out of thirty-four attempts.

Defensively, WIU capitalized on Tennessee State's eighteen turnovers, which they turned into twenty-six points. This defensive pressure disrupted TSU's rhythm and allowed WIU to control second-chance opportunities effectively.

WIU's depth was evident as bench players contributed twelve points while making significant defensive impacts. Kennedy Flanagan and Shelby Bowman each recorded a steal, while Flanagan and Madison Davis added one block apiece.

Despite periodic runs by TSU, WIU maintained composure and consistent scoring throughout the game. This victory improved their record to 8-7 overall and 2-4 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Next up for the Leathernecks is an away game against Morehead State scheduled for Thursday night at 4 p.m. CT.
