A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Franklin Community Unit School District 1 on January 28, 2025. The request, made by West Central Reporter, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage of local governmental affairs, sought copies of all emails and memos from the past year containing specific keywords.
The two keywords specified in the request were "Lucy Calkins" and "Units of Study". As part of our commitment to transparency and public accountability, we at West Central Reporter are seeking these records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. We have requested that these records be provided in an electronic format for ease of access and review.
In addition to our request for these records, we also applied for a fee waiver as a media professional. Our role in gathering and disseminating information to the public is crucial in maintaining transparency within public institutions.
According to the Illinois Report Card, the average state teacher salary in 2023 was $73,916, while the state average Administrative Salary stood at $116,908. The average student-to-administrative ratio is 141:1, indicating a high level of administrative support for students. Meanwhile, the average student-to-teacher ratio is more balanced at 17:1.
