A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Morgan County Il Clerk & Elections Division on February 5, 2025. The request, sent by us at West Central Reporter, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, seeks detailed information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The specific records requested under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act include a list of all candidates along with their full names - first, middle, and last. In addition to this, we have asked for details about the office they are running for and its jurisdiction. We have also requested information regarding each candidate's party affiliation.
Furthermore, we have sought contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization dedicated to gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is crucial for us in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities encompass holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
