The Western Illinois University (WIU) Tennis team faced a challenging match against Northern Illinois University, resulting in a 0-7 defeat. The Leathernecks struggled in doubles play, with the pair of Nour Gueblaoui and Chloé Routier losing 5-7 at No. 1. Lara Souza and Richardlyne Francois also fell short with a 4-6 loss. Paige Grice and Mana Fawcett did not complete their match, leaving the score at 5-6, which awarded NIU the point.
In singles competition, Chloé Routier played at No. 1 but was defeated 4-6, 2-6. Lara Souza competed at No. 2 but lost her sets 3-6, 1-6. At No. 3, Paige Grice had a close match but ultimately lost in two sets: 6-7 (2-7), and 4-6. Mana Fawcett suffered a defeat at No. 4 with scores of 2-6, 3-6. Nour Gueblaoui was unable to secure a win at No. 5, scoring 1-6 and 3-6 in her sets. Anna Trush played at No. 6 but lost both sets with scores of 2-6 and 0-6.
Looking ahead, the Leathernecks aim to improve as they prepare to host Creighton University on February 15.
