The Western Illinois University (WIU) Leatherneck tennis team secured a decisive 7-0 victory against Chicago State, showcasing their strength in both doubles and singles matches.

In the doubles category, WIU claimed the opening point by winning all three matches. The No. 1 pair of Nour Gueblaoui and Chloé Routier defeated their opponents with a score of 6-2. At No. 2, Paige Grice and Mana Fawcett easily won with a score of 6-0. The duo of Lara Souza and Richardlyne Francois automatically won at No. 3 due to Chicago State not fielding opponents.

The singles matches further highlighted WIU's dominance as they swept all six spots. Routier began at No. 1, finishing her match in two sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-0. Grice continued the momentum at No. 2, also securing her match with scores of 6-1 and 6-0. Francois displayed similar prowess at No. 3, shutting out her opponent with consecutive scores of 6-0.

Nour Gueblaoui maintained the team's strong performance at Western Illinois by winning her match with identical set scores of 6-0.

Anna Trush made a successful return from injury, defeating her opponent in two sets at No.5 with scores of 6-0 each set. Denver Johnson also returned from injury but did not compete as Chicago State left the No.6 spot vacant, resulting in an automatic point for WIU.

The Leathernecks will next travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina for the Spring Tennis Fest where they will face Berry College on March 9.
