Bushnell-Prairie City Community Unit School District 170 Board of Education met Feb. 19.

REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 19, 2025

The Board of Education met in a Regular Meeting on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC with the following members present: McCleery, Miller, Spangler, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Beekman Absent: None

Public Comments: Andrew Kluesner, spoke regarding the High School Science program.

The Board reviewed the Consent Agenda.

Motion by Member Beekman, seconded by Member Spangler to approve the Consent Agenda which contained the following: Minutes of the January 15, 2025 Regular and Executive Session Meetings, Payment of Bills, Treasurer's Report and Investments, Student Activity Accounts, Manual and Void Checks and Imprest Ledgers. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Spangler, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Beekman. Nay: None

Superintendent Gound reported that the B-PC Education Foundation will hold a Fundraiser on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Bushnell VFW to raise money for a new playground at the Elementary. We have used all 5 of our Emergency days.

Superintendent Gound discussed reasons for moving the 5th grade to the Junior High School beginning the 2025-26 School Year.

Motion by Member Webb, seconded by Member Thompson to approve the

Superintendent's recommendation to move 5th grade from the Elementary School to the Junior High School beginning the 2025-26 School year. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: McCleery, Miller, Spangler, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Beekman. Nay: None

The Board reviewed the Vision 2030 Resolution.

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member Spangler to approve the Vision 2030 Resolution. After a roll call vote, motion carried as follows: Aye: Miller, Spangler, Webb, Thompson, McGrew and Beekman. Nay: McCleery

Superintendent Gound discussed preparing the 2025-26 School Calendar.

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member Miller to adjourn to Executive Session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, probable litigation against the District and student discipline.

After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The Board reviewed the Personnel Report.

Motion by Member McGrew, seconded by Member Thompson to approve the Personnel Report as follows: Employment: Janice Fowler as District Bus Aide beginning immediately, Resignation of Jonathon Jones as JH/HS Band & Chorus Teacher effective at the end of the 2024-25 School Year. Non-Tenured Non-Renewals: Danelle Meier, Teacher, effective at the end of the 2024-25 School Year, Melissa Swartzbaugh, Teacher, effective at the end of the 2024-25 School Year, Julia Kluesner, Teacher, effective at the end of the 2024-25 School Year and John Draws, Teacher, effective at the end of the 2024-25 School Year. Non-Certified Non-Renewals: Kaylee Agans, Paraprofessional, effective at the end of the 2024-25 School Year, Amanda Beckner, Paraprofessional, effective at the end of the 2024-25 School Year, Emilie Mahr, Paraprofessional, effective at the end of the 2024-25 School Year, Debra Schrock, Paraprofessional, effective at the end of the 2024-25 School Year and Christina Waldo, Paraprofessional, effective at the end of the 2024-25 School Year. After a roll call vote motion carried as follows: Aye: Miller, Webb, Thompson, McGrew. Nay: McCleery, Spangler and Beekman.

Motion by Member Beekman, seconded by Member McGrew to adjourn the meeting. After a voice vote, all in favor, motion carried.

The next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School LRC.
