Western Illinois University’s women’s basketball team has been recognized by the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) with the Team Academic Achievement Award for the 2024–25 academic year. The Leathernecks led all OVC women’s basketball programs with a collective grade point average of 3.83.

This award highlights the team’s performance in academics as well as athletics. The recognition comes amid a series of academic honors across the conference. Earlier, it was announced that a record number of 1,792 OVC student-athletes made it to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for maintaining at least a 3.25 GPA, and 354 students received the OVC Academic Medal of Honor for achieving perfect 4.0 GPAs—the second-highest total recorded in league history.
