Western Illinois cross country teams compete at Redbird Invite

Western Illinois University's cross country teams competed at the Redbird Invite on Friday. The women's team finished sixth overall, while the men's team participated with three runners.

In the women's 6K race, freshman Deana Hudson was the top finisher for Western Illinois, placing 23rd with a time of 23:05.6. Other contributors included Emma-Kate Watt (30th), Finley Hancock (33rd), Marissa Shute (34th), and Lily Patterson (35th). Ellie Eastman and Cassandra Brushaber also completed the course for the Leathernecks.

On the men's side, freshman Brody Harker led Western Illinois in the 8K event, finishing in 27:02.4 for 55th place. Evan Eberhart and Logan Rosas also represented the team.

The meet included several regionally ranked programs, offering a competitive field for both squads.

Western Illinois is scheduled to compete next at Missouri's Gans Creek Classic in two weeks.
