Western Illinois University's women's basketball team is set to host the Chicago State Cougars on Monday, November 17, at Western Hall in Macomb, Illinois. The game will begin at 5 p.m. CT.

The Leathernecks enter the matchup with a 2-0 record and are currently on a two-game winning streak. This season marks their third year competing in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC). In their most recent outing, Western Illinois secured a 68–50 road win against Northern Illinois University. The team demonstrated strong defensive play by limiting NIU to just 19 points in the first half and maintaining control throughout the game.

Mia Nicastro led Western Illinois with a double-double performance of 23 points and 11 rebounds. Addi Brownfield contributed 13 points and nine rebounds, while Allie Meadows added 12 points and Mallory Shetley scored 10. The Leathernecks finished with four players scoring in double figures, out-rebounded NIU by a margin of 40–25, forced 18 turnovers, and outscored their opponent in the paint.

Chicago State comes into the contest with a record of 1-3 under head coach Corry Irvin's leadership. Now in her third year at the helm, Irvin has focused on building consistency within her program. Last season, Chicago State struggled for wins in the Northeast Conference (NEC), averaging just over 60 points per game and facing challenges with rebounding and shooting efficiency. The Cougars rely heavily on guard play for quickness and creating turnovers but have been working to improve their competitiveness across all areas.

The last meeting between these teams took place on November 18, 2023, when Western Illinois won by a score of 93-75.
