The Pittsfield City Council met Thursday to award the bid for the new fire department building to Shortridge Construction Co. and authorize the mayor to sign all contracts and necessary funding agency documents.

The motion was approved with a majority vote.

The City Council also approved using funds from the money market and fundraising accounts towards its $165,000 commitment share for the fire department project; approved Pay Request No. 4 for Newman-Alton in the amount of $178,118; approved Change Orders No. 2 (net deduction of $1,915) and No. 3 (add S-5 Colorguard Snow Guard retention at east and west roof $3,778.50) for Newman-Alton.

The council also OK'd a permanent transfer of $6,000 from the Wastewater Treatment Facility Fund to the Economic Development Fund.
