Carlinville City Clerk Carla Brockmeier has been instructed by the attorney general's office to respond to two Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests by the Edgar County Watchdogs (ECW).
The requests were made in mid-March, but the ECW said it had not received the requested information as of mid-April.
Laura Harter, an assistant attorney general, asked Brockmeier to let her office know within seven business days of when Brockmeier had responded to the ECW's requests.
The first FOIA request asked for the city’s credit card and other payment card statements, as well as cell phone statements, dating to October 2016. It also sought Open Meetings Acts and FOIA proof of training for the city’s elected officials.
The second request dealt with agreements and contracts between the city and Blackburn College.
The ECW accuses the city of a history of noncompliance with FOA requests.
"The law required they respond within 5 working days after receipt, and they failed," the ECW posted on its Illinois Leaks website.
