Litchfield FD responds to 41 fires in 2016

Litchfield Fire Department responded to 77 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the West Central Reporter.

The calls in Litchfield included 41 fires - 22 structure fires, six vehicle fires and 13 other fires.

In all, the department saw $752,600 in fire loss - or about $18,356 per fire.

The department also received 36 false calls.

The Litchfield Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 14 active employees and 10 retired or inactive employees, was $417,840 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $10,191 for every fire in 2016.
