Mayor Hayden reported that interviews were held last week for a new Economic Development Director and a decision should be made by the March 20, 2018 regular City Council meeting.

Mayor Hayden stated he received a call from Illinois Department of Transportation regarding the Letter of Intent for which the Council voted not to participate. IDOT is planning to take care of all of the handicap parking areas along the route so Mayor Hayden thinks it would be wise to reconsider the City’s participation. IDOT will be meeting with the Mayor tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. to lay out plans. The project would not be in this fiscal year, so the City would be able to budget ahead to accommodate the project.

The State of Illinois has approved the stop sign for the new road to Ace Hardware but will not allow placement until the retaining wall has been lowered. It should only take two to three days maximum to lower the retaining wall once the weather clears, hopefully within the next two to four weeks.

Alderman Knight reported that he met with Zoning and Building Permit Administrator Tom Reinhardt, Street and Alley Foreman Jeff Griggs, Lake Board Member Berry Booth, and a gentleman from Iguana, who had the low bid on the handicap fishing dock at the lake. It was decided to also have telescoping poles installed on the dock with a 5’ x 5’ pad to allow for better accessibility from a vehicle. An additional bid for the poles will be submitted before the next regular Council meeting.

Alderman Ketchum reported he has 80 tackle boxes and 80 rods & reels for the trout fishing the first Saturday in April at the lagoon. He has purchased the items for $1,547.88, but would like to thank Pikeland Motors, QUMA, Max Middendorf and Farm and Home for their donations towards the cost. Street and Alley Foreman Jeff Griggs and Gas and Water Foreman Bruce McKee will coordinate with the work camp to fill in the rock at the lagoon when weather allows.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve the Finance Committee Report and the Clerk be directed to issue the claims thereon.

Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

Roll Call:Yea:Ketchum, Knight, Lennon, Ritchart,

Scheiwe, Wilson, Wood (7)

Nay:None (0)

The motion carried.

Mayor Hayden reported Korey Capps began employment today in the Gas and Water Department. Jacob Seals will be notified tomorrow of his new employment status.

Alderman Knight moved to adjourn this meeting at 6:19 p.m.
