Report: Carthage spent $8,017 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Carthage Elementary School District 317 is down 2 percent from five years ago, according to a West Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Hancock County school district spent $8,193 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,017 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 435 to 471.

Carthage's spending in 2016-17 was 38 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
