McDonough County Human Resources and Planning Committee met April 13.

The Human Resources and Planning Committee met on Thursday, April 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse in the Law Library. Committee members in attendance included County Chairman Scott Schwerer, Dave Nissen, Letha Clark, Alice Henry, and Travis Hiel. Members absent were George Dixon, Jennifer Hemingway, Digger Oster, and Mike Cox. Others in attendance included Patrick Stout, Kelsey Havens, Bonnie Scripps Karen Blakely, Eric Blakely, Gayle Carper, and Stacey Alexander was present as Committee Secretary.
County Chairman Schwerer called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Review & Approval of March 8, 2018 Minutes
Member Clark moved with a second by Member Hiel to approve the March 8, 2018 minutes as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Animal Control Report
Animal Control Officer Kelsey Havens gave the report. The total number of Dogs in the shelter at the end of March was 49 and Cats was 40. The shed that was donated by the Humane Society of McDonough County has been placed. They do not have any hot water, they are waiting on a part for the water heater.
They requested to do a special on cats from now until the end of June. Member Nissen moved with a second by Member Henry to approve doing a special on cats from now until the end of June. Motion carried on a voice vote.
The Humane Society will be holding a pet wash at Woodrums on May 5 being helped by WIU students. It will be $10 for a wash and comb out. On June 9th a Wine Whisker and Whimsy fund raiser will be held, they are still working on a location.
Future Plans for Memorial Money
They are looking into building a new animal shelter with the memorial money.

Report on McDonough County Groundwater Protection Education Committee
A plaque was received for being certified. Free water testing will be done at Farm King or the Health Department on May 7 from 8:00-12:00, May 8 from 12:00-4:30 and on May 9 from 8:00-12:00.
Report on GIS Meeting
Chad is working on obtaining Google Imagery for the County.

Member Henry moved with a second by Member Hiel to approve the claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Member Henry moved with a second by Member Hiel that the meeting adjourns. Motion carried on a voice vote. With no further business to discuss the meeting adjourned at 7:19 p.m.
